Expressing yourself is what Montana is all about. The family-owned company is based in Haarby on the island of Funen in Denmark, where the production takes place at a high-technological production site covering 19,000 m2.

Montana Furniture was founded by Peter J. Lassen in 1982; Joakim Lassen, his son (who originally held the position of Creative Director at the company) was appointed Managaing Director in 2015.

The father-and-son team have designed many of Montana’s products — often in collaboration with Montana’s design team or with external designers.

Montana, as a whole, only has around 160 employees and an its own sales organisation in Denmark and at most European markets. In keeping with their philosophy — “quality, aesthetics and environment” — the company is constantly searching for the optimal combination of functionality, quality, environmental and ethical considerations and aesthetics.

Montana Furniture produces and supplies shelving systems, tables, and chairs for homes and modern office environments. The iconic Montana shelving system is designed by Peter J. Lassen. The flexible modular system and the inspiring colour palette offer freedom to create your own personal room and to personalize your style. Montana’s table and chair series are designed by Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Jakob Wagner, Peter J. Lassen, Joakim Lassen and schmidt hammer lassen design.
When Peter J. Lassen developed the Montana System, there was a detailed mathematic and philosophical principle behind it. The mathematic calculations are complex and based on 5.7 cm, but the philosophy is quite simple: Every Montana element should be able to be infinitely combined and be practical, good-looking, durable and independent of changes in fashion. That is the way it has been since 1982, and that is the way it will stay.
