Designed to furnish a large dining area or sophisticated meeting room, Memo is defined by the contrast between its intentionally oversized volumes and the minimalist discretion synonymous with Piero Lissoni, who has been the art director of Lema since 1995. A piece utterly devoid of ostentation, Memo achieves perfect balance thanks to the symmetry between the table top – available in heat-treated oak or volcanic stone, an exclusive Lema finish created via a meticulous manual process – and the metal structure, with its bold, industrial inspired design. Much of the aesthetic research behind the piece focused on materials and their expressive capacity, with care taken to avoid any gimmicks. Ultimately, at the heart of Memo is a coherent creative style whose strength is its simplicity.
